The Ann Arbor T-shirt Company is composed of dozens of artists, screen printers, art techs, logistics professionals, embroiderers, and support staff, all operating out of Ann Arbor, Michigan (about 40 miles west of Detroit). We proudly design, print, and embroider the majority of our products completely in our Ann Arbor, MI factory.

The company grew from a dorm room project between two friends at the University of Michigan. What sets our products apart is that our workers receive fair wages, healthcare, 401k matches, and meals. Additionally, the machines, inks, and most inputs are U.S. sourced, and the shirts are mostly made of U.S. cotton. Producing in-house allows us to maintain high quality and keep prices low.

We love giving people fun ways to express themselves and strike up conversations with their neighbors. Our shirts feature designs drawn and screen printed with pride by our skilled illustrators and printers in Ann Arbor. The tagless tag is printed on the fabric inside the collar, so you can't feel it.

Our shirts have a unisex modern fit - slightly tapered to be a little less boxy than the old style of mass-market t-shirts. They are pre-shrunk, but like any high-cotton product, will still shrink slightly in the wash. The model photos showcase the actual shirt on our salesguy, Rich, who is 6'2", 200 lbs, and wearing a large.

The shirts are made of a ringspun, 30/1 fine jersey knit on 100% USA-grown cotton, making them soft and smooth with a high thread-count. They are a mid-weight, not too thick or too thin, striking a nice balance between comfort and durability.

We use high-quality QCM screen printing inks, manufactured in Pineville, North Carolina. These inks are vibrant, durable, and highly crack resistant. Some of our designs are intentionally faded or cracked, but the inks always "do what they are told" by our printers.

Our printing presses and ovens (to cure inks) are top-of-the-line equipment made by M&R in Illinois. QCM has been one of the most forward-thinking ink manufacturers, going phthalate-free over ten years ago, and they are also CFC free and rated as carcinogen-free by the state of California.

When you buy one of our shirts, your money is supporting various businesses across the country. Approximately 35% goes to design, printing, and production in Ann Arbor, 22% to advertising and platform fees in Seattle, 6% to an apparel distributor in Cincinnati, 4% to shipping and logistics in Atlanta, 4% to printing presses and equipment in Roselle, Illinois, 4% to cotton farming in Texas and the Southwest, 3% to fabric sewing in Toluca, Mexico, and 1% to screen printing inks in Pineville, North Carolina.
